" I love NY " That's what all the t-shirts say, and a lot of my friends said it to but to be honest I never really understood the appeal of New york, until I got there.

There is such an atmosphere in new york that's hard to describe, so hopefully the pictures will do that for me. What I can say though is that there is so much variation, from Central park where you feel totally isolated and calm to Wall street which is bustling with people.
There are so many sights to see and things to do, luckily I got 2 full days there, which I think you really need to appreciate the city, but I still want to go back and explore more!

Prague

Prague

One thing I have learned on my travels... back up, back up, back up! You can never have enough copies of your photos. Thankfully all my photos got back okay, but as I edited all my photos for this blog I saved them direct to memory stick - BAD IDEA! 

So these are the revised photos and I've definately learned that lesson the hard way.

Prague is a different city to those I've visited so far, all the others all have very modern parts and are very bold where as Prague is the most fairytale like. It reminds me of something from a disney film, all the buildings are intricate and painted in tranquil pastels.

I loved the little detail and flash of colour on this coffee shop wall. It really stood out.

Everything is so close together and then sitting on the top of a hill is the impressive cathedral.

Barcelona

Barcelona

I have visited Barcelona once before a few years ago and loved it and so I was very excited to be going back. Leaving from a grey and miserable London I arrived in sunny Spain which was such a great bonus, the sunshine just seems to make everywhere seem so much better.

One of the last photos I took in Barcelona on the roof of my hotel, the rooftops seem to have lives of their own away from the street.

Glasgow

The Necropolis was probably my favourite part of Glasgow, it has an amazing view overlooking the city.

Travelling from London to Glasgow was brilliant, it's only around an hour by plane so its a great for a weekend.

PARIS

My second adventure started very early on a cold December day, 4am to be precise.

The early start followed quickly by a 3 hour Eurostar journey, for which this was my entertainment in between several naps! :

Upon arrival the weather wasn't any better and persistent drizzled hampered my attempts to find the hotel (which took around 3 hours!) But thankfully as darkness fell the drizzle stopped and allowed me to take a nighttime trip around the city.

First stop, the Notre Dam :

The sky was lovely and cloudy and the bright moon shone down to make an amazing skyline.

Followed by a trip to the Eiffel Tower. A very impressive sight from all angles!

Unfortunately the next day saw no improvement in the weather, in fact the wind was stronger and photographing the sights proved a battle against the conditions. This is where a lens cloth becomes invaluable, after every few shots the lens was coated in raindrops and needed a good clean.

However the rain did make for great pictures, the water covering the ground reflecting all the lights:

LONDON

My first trip is to the lovely and lively city of London. As this is the city I call home it's quite an unusual experiance looking around from the viewpoint of a travel photographer.

Things that seem so everyday suddenly stand out. 

Luckily for me it was a lovely sunny November day and I had a lot of fun wandering around the city looking for various photographic opportunities.

Here the path leading to the London Eye is lined with trees so I adjusted the colours to bring out the lovely warm autumn atmosphere.
